It is wrong to patronize people in any situation– and people know their own bodies. If they ask, am I going to die, they already know the answer. When they are lied to, it only makes them feel more lonely, scared and confused. How do I know? Because I too have sat with people, helpless to change their medical situation even in a state-of-the-art intensive care unit. While that sounds great, but in the field that’s called a lawsuit! Emergency responders cannot legally deliver those words and must render care by law, even if the patient wants to die. The only time care cannot be delivered, legally speaking, is when a DNR is present.

Yes, we miss our loved ones when they go first, but this culture of fearing death is sad and sick. This guy has it figured out. It’s the right thing to do to let people reflect in their last moments and it’s wrong to demand that people fight to survive grievous injuries. This content belongs to Nicefrogtees. And give a false sense to them of more time than they likely have. If they do survive, thinking they would die, then yay for them and their families! But don’t lie. If you don’t know, say, “I don’t know” and let them fight to survive If they so choose. It’s about the scope of practice and provision of service.
